School Fruit and Vegetable Scheme Research

15/07/2015 By Jacqui Banerjee

BVA BDRC has worked for several years with NHS Supply Chain to assess the School Fruit and Vegetable Scheme. This Scheme provides access to a free piece of fruit or veg each day via schools to nursery, reception and key stage 1 pupils.  Our research has been used to measure satisfaction with the scheme logistics, the quality of fruit and vegetables and the behavioural impact the scheme has on healthy eating.  The research provides NHS Supply Chain and the Department of Health with key indicators on service delivery as well as informing policy on the importance of the Scheme as part of the Change 4 Life programme.  Both quantitative and qualitative research is carried out with schools, parents and pupils involved in the scheme.

The 2015 research can be found here: School Fruit and Vegetable Scheme.
