Days out at visitor attractions - a question of security?
01/11/2017 By Max Clapham
Since March 2017 Westminster Bridge, Manchester Arena, London Bridge & Borough Market, Finsbury Park Mosque and Parsons Green were all added to a tragic roll call of places associated with terrorist incidents in the UK.
So has Britain, in the context of its leisure time, carried on regardless? Or barricaded the front doors? Or modified in some other way their approach to choosing their days out?
And, if visitor behaviour has changed, what can be done about it?
Max Clapham tackled these questions using our latest research at the VAC (Visitor Attractions Conference) in October 2017. The presentations ends with useful pointers about interpretive aspects of the visitor experience that should be better promoted to encourage additional visits to museums, galleries and historical attractions today.
